George Apeitos- University of Oxford- PhD- 2024
I graduated from the University of Cyprus in 2023 with a BA in History and Archaeology (Archaeology Stream) and a Minor in Classical Philology. In October of the same year I started my postgraduate studies at the University of Oxford (Brasenose College), with a MSc in Archaeology (Maritime Archaeology Stream) supported by the ‘Robert and Soula Kyprianou Graduate Scholarship’. A year later, October 2024, I will be starting a DPhil in Classical Archaeology supported by the HFF and supervised by Dr. Damian Robinson, again, at the University of Oxford (St. Cross College). I will be focusing on the Maritime Archaeology of the Eastern Mediterranean, especially in harbour structures and vessel characteristics through the Epigraphical evidence of the region. A career in maritime archaeology is what I aim to achieve, especially in my home country of Cyprus and the wider Eastern Mediterranean region. I hope to be involved in research as well as public engagement projects to promote the rich maritime identity of the area and further develop it.
