Remembering Patrice Pomey

It is with great sadness that we mark the passing of the Foundation’s and Honor’s great friend and colleague, Professor Patrice Pomey. Patrice was a true leader in the field of maritime archaeology, with a particular passion for shipwreck archaeology, boat construction and reconstruction, one of his latest incredible achievements being the replica of the Archaic sewn boat Gyptis. He was mentor and an inspiration to many, and his passing leaves a large hole in our discipline. He was a genuine individual who will be remembered with admiration and affection. The Foundation would like to express our deepest sympathy to Monique and the Pomey family.
