The Foundation was saddened to hear the news that George Bass has passed away. He was a hugely significant figure in the world of maritime archaeology and will be greatly missed. Honor Frost worked with George Bass at Cape Gelidonya in 1960. This project was the first systematic full excavation on the seabed and contributed so much to the development of maritime archaeology as a discipline.
