The Culture in Crisis Portal
On the 2nd December 2019 the Foundation attended the launch of the V&A Culture in Crisis Portal. Over the last few months the Foundation has been uploading details of HFF funded projects to the portal which is a free online resource developed by the V&A.
The aim of the portal is to provide a free and accessible database of cultural heritage preservation projects. This includes projects which deal with heritage at risk in areas of conflict, at risk from global climate change, criminal acts or other natural disasters. The Foundation has supported a large number of projects which have dealt with a changing coastline threatening the archaeology, or in areas affected by conflict, we have also worked to build capacity in these regions to help protect cultural heritage.
The portal can be accessed here and we will continue to work with the V&A to add projects to the portal. This will not only be a valuable tool for funders but also for researchers, as a forum to share ideas, understand any potential gaps and to hopefully encourage communication and an inter-disciplinary approach.
