Team Skills Development and Safety Program
The core work of the HFF-Lebanon team requires spending long hours offshore as well as advanced diving skills. To his end, the team needs to constantly update its skillset and competency for best practice and to maintain the highest safety standards when working at sea. With the support of the Honor Frost Foundation, the team has successfully completed an overall Safety Program in Lebanon, delivered by the marine rescue authorities of the General Directorate of Lebanese Civil Defense and the Red Cross. The program included the following skills:
- To drive and moor a boat safely.
- To communicate through a VHF radio and learn the emergency procedure.
- To fight and extinguish a fire.
- Survival techniques and rescue procedures.
- To take immediate action upon encountering an accident or medical emergency.
On 19 June 2023 the HFF Lebanon team joined forces with the Sea Rescue Unit of the Civil Defence and International Maritime Academy for a Coastguard Training. During the training the team learned how to navigate a motorised RIB, extinguish fires, perform CPR, rescue drowning victims, deploy safety rafts, and tie different types of knots.
First Aid Training with the Red Cross
On 27 June 2023, the HFF team completed the final portion of the safety program that consists of first aid training with the Lebanese Red Cross. During this training the team learned the essentials of first aid including oxygen administration, first aid, CPE and handling burns and wounds.
