MAGS 2025 Bursary

The Foundation is pleased to offer a total of six scholarships of up to £1000 to allow emerging scholars from the region to attend the Maritime Archaeology Graduate Symposium (MAGS) at the University of Ioannina in Greece. You can find out more about MAGS 2025 by visiting this link.

MAGS 2025 Bursary Application

  • The Foundation primarily supports bursaries for applicants from Cyprus, Lebanon, Egypt and Syria. If you hold a different nationality, please see the guidance above on how to apply for a bursary.
  • Only people who have applied to present at MAGS 2025 will be considered for this award.
  • Defined as a student who is currently being funded to complete an academic qualification by HFF or has completed a degree in the past calender year.
  • Please provide more information about you which demonstrates a strong interest and commitment to maritime archaeology.
  • Please provide more information which amongst other things, outlines why you should receive this support, indicating why you have chosen to take part in the conference and what benefit this brings you specifically as well as your potential peers. This should be ideally a minimum 250-300 words and include a clear justification for why this conference will benefit you, and what you hope to achieve through attending.
  • Please provide the abstract of your paper.
  • Please upload a brief CV, ideally no more than one page, as a word doc or pdf

  • Please provide a budget breakdown including travel and visa costs, accommodation, and subsistence. Except in exceptional circumstances, HFF will not allocate additional funding for the same event.
