Ma’agan Mikhael ship replica

Ma’agan Mikhael first sail © Alexander Efremov

January saw the successful launch of the Ma’agan Mikhael ship replica.

The success of this project is testimony to the passion, hard work and rigorous scientific analysis and recording of the project team, most notably its director Prof Yak Kahanov.

Sadly, Yak was not aboard for the launch, having passed away in late December 2016. However, his legacy and his vision floats on….

Yak’s passing is a great loss to the maritime archaeological community and he will be sorely missed by colleagues and friends.
