In 2009 the Alexandria Centre for Maritime Archaeology & Underwater Cultural Heritage was established as a European Union project under the EU-Tempus III Programme. The project aimed to create a specialized center for postgraduate studies which provides education and training at different levels in aspects of maritime and underwater archaeology, and to develop a Postgraduate Diploma and Master programmes in Maritime Archaeology and Underwater Cultural Heritage, designed and structured in accordance with EU standards.

The Centre offers a Postgraduate Diploma and Master of Arts degrees in Maritime Archaeology and Underwater Cultural Heritage, designed and structured in accordance with EU standards.

The programme aims to provide graduates from different backgrounds with a sound theoretical and methodological foundation in the investigation, interpretation, and management of the maritime and underwater archaeological resource within its wider context. Hence, participants in the programme would be provided with the basis for a professional career in this field or a sound foundation for further research.

The Foundation offers four scholarships to fund Diploma students (for one year), with two scholarships dedicated to the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities employees. The Foundation will also fund additional travel costs for non-resident students.

The Alexandria Centre for Maritime Archaeology & Underwater Cultural Heritage(CMAUCH) is pleased to announce the continuation of the Honor Frost Foundation Scholarship for the Diploma program in Maritime Archaeology for the 2024/2025 academic year.

The scholarship covers tuition fees and a monthly stipend of £150. The stipend is not offered to Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities employees.

It aims to encouraging serious and deserving students to peruse graduate studies in the field of Maritime Archaeology at the CMAUCH.

Scholarships are available for students from the HFF Region:Egypt, Cyprus, Lebanon, and Syria.

–  Applicants must be graduates of Archaeology or related disciplines.

–  A good command of English is essential.

–  CV must be submitted along with the application & indicate applicant’s level of English.

–  All applicants are required to provide a recommendation letter from a department chair or a faculty member, and a personal motivation letter.
