The Foundation supports research, education and outreach initiatives primarily within the eastern Mediterranean, particularly Cyprus, Lebanon and Syria. Awards are largely but not exclusively, supported through the Small Grant Awards funding scheme. Use either the links below or click the region on the map to view the relevant Regional Awards.
Developing the Discipline Awards (research, methods and technologies)
Developing the Discipline Awards are ordinarily supported through the Small Grant Awards scheme, but in exceptional circumstances funds are awarded outside this scheme. Developing the Discipline Awards are not necessarily regionally specific but encourage the development of maritime archaeology and/ or the protection of underwater cultural heritage more broadly. They largely focus on the development of new technologies and methodologies that support maritime archaeological practise, as well as projects that develop aspects of Honor Frost’s research interests but with wider geographical reach. They also consider Capacity Building activities that are conducted outside the region, as well as activities that provide opportunities for scholars to meet and discuss the growth of maritime archaeology regionally and globally. Studentships, Bursaries and Early Career Awards
Support for developing education at Masters, Doctoral and Post Doctoral levels is offered by the Foundation in conjunction with a variety of international academic institutions, to students and scholars from the primary region Cyprus, Lebanon, Syria but also extending to Malta, Sicily and Egypt. Currently the following awards have been granted. Link for Studentships, Bursaries and early Career Awards.
Finally, the Foundation has granted awards previously, that have now come to an end and no longer included in the categories above, but are listed here as Archival Awards.
